APPENDIX II.

ILLUSTRATIONS OF MIXED SERVICE.

Prefatory Note.

The six cases set out in this Appendix have been selected after careful consideration as being typical both of ordinary cases and of one or two special cases.

Three of them are based upon actual recent cases, adapting the calculation of pension on the continuous system to the new draft Ordinance and rounding off all figures for convenience of calculation. In one of these cases the first proviso to the proposed new Regulation 17 comes into operation.

In one case, fortunately, the actual aggregates of salary for each Colony were available. In the others it has been necessary to assume an aggregate salary based upon general experience of the average amount drawn by officers in such cases: it is thought that the margin of error in these cases is not a very wide one.
