be passed shall (unless it shall be otherwise spe- cially provided) extend to and be binding and effectual (for all the Purposes thereof) within all British Waters adjacent to the Coast of such Colony, and being nearer than to the Coast of any other Part of Her Majesty's Dominions; and from and after the Commencement of this Act it shall be lawful for the Legislature of any Colony, by express Enactment to that Effect, to be contained in any Law respecting the Management and Protection of any Fisheries adjacent to the Coast of the Colony or respecting the Coasting Trade, or for the Collection of Cus- toms Duties, to make the same binding on all British Subjects being at Sea within Eight Miles of the said Coast, and nearer thereto than to the Coast of any other Part of Her Majesty's Do- minions.
