At Accra many specimens were taken in the bungalow at Victoriaborg. Larvæ were found in a small quantity of water that had fallen into a wooden wash-tub from a leak in the roof. Found at Accra, February to July. I have not met with this species in the bush.

Specimens were taken in the bush-paths outside Obuasi from 2 to 6 p.m. in June, September, October, November. I have not seen this species in houses.

Stegomyia Simpsonii, Theobald.

Specimens were taken in the bush-paths outside Obuasi, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.,

in July, August, and November.

I have not seen this species enter houses.

Specimens were taken in dense bush or bush-paths outside Obuasi from 3 to 6 p.m., and in the bungalow and upon the windows 5 p.m. in June, July, September, October.

Specimens were reared from larvæ found in a small collection of water in a

hollow of a tree near Kumasi in October.

Specimens reared from larvæ found in a collection of water in a fallen tree

at Obuasi in November. Reared from larvæ found in open barrel under down pipe at the C. D. Hospital, Accra, in June; also caught in the bungalow latrine at Victoria- borg, Accra, in June.

". Mansonia uniformis, Theobald.

Specimens taken at Obuasi in bedroom in June and at Accra in sitting-room,

9 p.m., in June. A small scarlet Hydrachnid is occasionally found upon this species.

Mansonia major, Theobald.

Specimens were taken at Victoriaborg, Accra, in the veranda of the bungalow, on the arm, at 9 p.m., in April. Further specimens were taken in the lighted sitting-room, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., in June.

A bloodthirsty species, its bite producing unusually severe smarting. Females only were taken. They are apparently attracted at night by artificial light as they were only seen in the lighted rooms of the house.

Melanoconion, sp. nov. No. 1.

Specimens were taken at Victoriaborg, Accra, in the sitting-room and in

the latrine, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., from April to July.

This is a bloodthirsty and very common species, and is readily identified by

its pale sea-green scaleless venter. Melanoconion, sp. nov. No. 2.
