2. This contribution would in all probability have ceased at the end of this financial year in accordance with the terms of the letter from the Colonial Office to the Crown Agents a copy of which is enclosed, but in view of Your Excellency's despatch, No. 252, of the 29th ultimo, I will cause the same amount to be inserted in the Estimates for 1910-11.

I have, &c.,

32086

His Excellency

The Acting Governor

of the Leeward Islands,

Antigua.

F. S. WIGLEY,

Acting Administrator.

Enclosure 2 in No. 82.

(Dominica. No. 157/730.)

SIR,

Government House, Dominica, 26th April, 1909. I HAVE the honour to acknowledge the receipt of Your Excellency's despatch, No. 157, of the 22nd instant, forwarding, for my information and remarks, a copy of the Secretary of State's despatch, No. 65, of the 11th March, transmitting copies of the Report of the Advisory Committee for the Tropical Diseases Research Fund for the year 1908.

2. With regard to the 2nd

Administrator to Secretary of State, No. 14, of 30 March, 1904.

paragraph of the Secretary of State's despatch, I beg to invite Your Excellency's attention to the despatches noted in the margin, from which it will be seen that this Presidency agreed in 1904 to a vote of £25 annually for five years, in aid of Mr. J. Chamberlain's fund for the investiga- tion of tropical diseases. The first instalment was placed on the Estimates for 1904-5, and was duly paid through the Crown Agents.

Secretary of State to Administrator, No. 12, of 3 May, 1904.

3. In successive years, 1905-6, 1906-7, 1907-8, the sum of £25 was annually voted. On the 23rd August, 1907, the subscription for 1905-6 and 1906-7 not having been paid, I asked the Crown Agents to pay the sum of £75 to the fund, being the instalments from Dominica for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years.

4. It would appear from the report of the Advisory Committee for 1908, that the 5th contribution of £25 from Dominica was not paid to the fund during the year 1908, and I have asked the Crown Agents to make the payment now.
