Case 8. (November 8th, 1907.)
Gani, female, æt. about 15, of Shiwere's village, Lunchinda River, north shore of Lake Mweru. Chief Chipungu. Father died 4 or 5 years ago from chest trouble (chifua). Was born in the country and states she has not left her village for 2 years, during which time she has been engaged in fishing in the Lunchinda River. Temperature normal, denies any previous illness, and complains of nothing. Well nourished, face" puffy," especially upper eyelids. She is quite strong and appears otherwise to be in good health. Glands "+-," trypanosomes found on puncture.
Case 9. (November 8th, 1907.)
Paluka, male, æt. about 35, of Kachinda Village, Lunchinda River, north shore of Lake Mweru, Chief Chipungu. Went to work on the railway at Broken Hill in March, 1901, and returned in October of the same year. He was first ill before he went to work (headache, &c.). Was ill while he was at work, and again on his return. He attributes these illnesses to having been beaten. He denies having been in the Congo previously or since his return. He complains of nothing now, and says he has been quite well for about a year. He has constantly been engaged in fishing in the Lunchinda River and repeatedly bitten by tsetse fly while thus occupied. Has no fever, is well nourished, no symptoms of disease, and apparently

Case 10. (November 8th, 1907.)
Mkwewa, male, æt. about 40. Has a small village of his own close to Shiwere, on the Lunchinda River, north shore of Lake Mweru. He used to live in the neigh- bouring village of Mwas and came to live in his present village 4 years ago, during money which time he has not been ill. He has not been out to work, but obtained for his tax by selling goods and stock. Chief Shiwere states that he used to work with African Lakes Corporation, and for the last 2 years had been living in the village fishing, &c. Temperature normal, no tremors, is a little thin and does not He shows evidence of beginning to age, otherwise looks in average look robust. health. Glands "+," trypanosomes found on puncture.
Case 11. (November 8th, 1907.)
Asomani, male, æt. about 18, of Mpini village, Katete River, near Chiengi east shore of Lake Mweru. His relations live on the Lunchinda River, at Kaweme's village. He complains of pains in his chest, and says he has been ill for 2 months, and several times during the last year or two. He came originally from Mlumbi's village, in Manda's country, on Lake Tanganyika, near Moliro, and has been in this country for about 18 months. Temperature normal, is fat and robust, appearing

Kasuku, male, æt. about 30, of Kachinda village, Lunchinda River, north shore of Lake Mweru. Has lived in this country all his life, and has not been ill for 2 years, and complains of nothing now. Says he has worked at Kasama only, and has never been to the Congo. He has been engaged in fishing on the Lun- chinda River. Temperature normal. No symptoms. Looks in fair health. Musitu, male, æt. about 23, of Kalimba's village, Lake Tanganyika. At the end of 1906 came from Chinkalangu's, on the Bondwe River, where it runs into Lake Tanganyika, south of Moliro, Congo Free State. Always been in good health. Is constantly along the lake shore. Temperature and complains of nothing now.
+ trypanosomes found. normal. No symptoms, strong and healthy.
Case 21. (November 24th, 1907.)
*Chiwoshya, male, æt. about 30, of Kalimba's village. Visited villages on the lake shore frequently. Complains of nothing. Looks ill. Temperature 100. Face trypanosomes puffy, old iritis, no tremors. Tongue dirty brown. Glands found.
