No. 31.

VISUAL INSTRUCTION COMMITTEE to VICTORIA LEAGUE.

DEAR MADAM,

[Answered by No. 34.]

Downing Street, 13 July, 1908. In answer to your letter of the 11th,* various editions have been or are being prepared of the lectures and lantern slides to which you refer, such as, e.g., for West Indies, Canada, South Africa, India, &c., but, so far, the Australian and New Zealand Governments have not taken up the scheme, and, so far also, for one reason and another, there has been delay in placing the lectures and slides on sale in England. We hope this last defect will be remedied in the autumn, but at present I am unable to help you, I am sorry to say.

Yours, &c.,

C. P. LUCAS.

I AM directed to acknowledge the receipt of your letter, No. 24337/1908, of the 8th instant,* relative to Mr. A. Hugh Fisher's visit to North Borneo in November next in connection with the work of the Committee on Visual Instruction.

Mr. Fisher called here on the 9th instant, when it was suggested to him that he might confer with Major Harington, who is at home on leave, with a view to the time at his disposal in Borneo being utilised to the best advantage.
