Transmits copy of a letter from the Director of Surveys requesting that the scale of ban, hitherto in force, may be retained in maps of the Colony.

States, in reply to No. 22, that, in view of the advanced state of the Gold Coast Surveys, there will be no ob jection to the addition of the scale of be to those mentioned in Secretary of State's despatch of 8th December.

Reports that though Mr. Binnie, the Director of Public Works and Chief Surveyor, is not sanguine in the matter of the training of natives for survey work, he is of opinion that it would be well worth while to make the experiment.

Transmits revised estimates for the
