I HAVE the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your circular despatch of the 31st ultimo* suggesting that this Colony should undertake to contribute to the Imperial Institute, annually for three years from the 1st October next, a sum of £50 in substitution of the present contribution of £27 16s. 6d.; and asking to be informed by October 1st of the action taken by this Government.

2. I regret to have to inform you that it will not be possible to deal with this question until the General Assembly is convened in the spring of next year.
