LAW OFFICERS to COLONIAL OFFICE.

We were honoured with your Lordship's commands signified in Mr. Bramston's

Temple, 12th January 1882, letter of the 20th ultimo, stating that he was directed by your Lordship to transmit to us a copy of a letter from the private secretary to the Lord Chancellor, enclosing a copy of a letter from the Judge of the Vice-Admiralty Court of New Brunswick on the subject of jurisdiction and practice of the Vice-Admiralty Courts in the Colonies, and memorandum prepared at the Lord Chancellor's instance by Sir Robert Phillimore, and that Mr. Bramston was to request that we would favour your Lordship with our opinion as to the expediency of introducing into Parliament a bill in conformity with the suggestion made by Sir Robert Phillimore.

That in our opinion it will be expedient to introduce into Parliament a Bill in conformity with the suggestions made by Mr. Watters and Sir Robert Phillimore.
