MY LORD,
Temple, August 3, 1872. We are honoured with your Lordship's commands, signified in Mr. Herbert's letter of the 2nd August instant, stating that with reference to our previous reports* on the subject of the alleged abduction of Dr. Rufus Bratton from Canadian territory, he was directed by your Lordship to transmit to us copies of further papers on the subject which had just been received from the Governor General, and that your Lord- ship would be glad to learn whether the additional information contained in those papers leads us to add anything to or to modify our report of the 18th ultimot in the sense of which your Lordship had communicated with Lord Dufferin.
Mr. Herbert was pleased to add that your Lordship would be glad to receive our answer, if possible, on Saturday next.
In obedience to your Lordship's commands we have the honour to
Report
That the papers now sent to us by your Lordship's desire do not lead us to alter or modify in any respect the terms of the last report which we had the honour to submit to your Lordship.
