QUEEN'S ADVOCATE to COLONIAL OFFICE.

Temple, July 20, 1872. I AM honoured with your Lordship's commands signified in Mr. Meade's letter of 18th instant, stating that he was directed by your Lordship to transmit to me for my consideration a copy of a Despatch from the Governor of the Falkland Islands covering an Ordinance which has been passed by the Colonial Legislature to render valid any marriage performed by any minister of religion within the Falkland Islands whose name has been gazetted by the Governor for the time being.

Mr. Meade also enclosed for my information a copy of the Registration Ordinance, No. 12 of 1853, referred to in the Ordinance now under consideration, and stated that your Lordship requested to be favoured with my opinion whether this law may properly receive Her Majesty's sanction.
