LAW OFFICERS to COLONIAL OFFICE.
Lincoln's Inn, May 7, 1866. We are honoured with your commands signified in Sir Frederic Rogers' letter of the 2nd May instant, stating that he was directed by you to transmit to us the accompanying copy of an Act passed by the Legislature of Jamaica, in the month of December last, No. 4,546, entitled "An Act to authorise in certain cases the removal "from this Colony of aliens and other persons not being natural born or naturalised subjects, and for other purposes," together with the Reports of the Island Secre- tary and Attorney General on that Act, and to request that we would take this Act into our consideration, and favour you with our opinion whether it may properly receive Her Majesty'a allowance.
In obedience to your commands, we have taken these papers into our consideration, and have the honour to

That we are of opinion that under the present exceptional circumstances of the Colony of Jamaica, this Act may properly receive Her Majesty's allowance.
