made, to transmit to any colony to which such person shall be removed the depositions, or copies of the depositions, which shall have been taken previously to such committal or holding to bail, such depositions or copies thereof to be certified under the hand of the Governor and the common seal of the colony of which he administers the Government; and the magistrates, justices of the peace, public prosecutors, and others having juris- diction to commit for trial or hold to bail for trial under this Act, in the colony to which such per- sons shall be removed, may, respectively, if they think fit, proceed and act upon such depositions or such copies thereof as if the same had been depositions originally taken before them.

5. And be it enacted, That for the purposes Interpretation of this Act the word "colony" shall mean any island, plantation, colony, dominion, fort, or factory of Her Majesty, except any island within the United Kingdom, and the Islands of Man, Guernsey, Jersey, Alderney, and Sark, and the islands adjacent thereto respectively; and except also all such parts and places as are under the government of the East India Company; and the word "Governor" shall mean the officer for the time being administering the Government of any colony.
