I AM directed by the Earl of Crewe to request you to inform Viscount Morley of Blackburn that it is proposed to send to Mauritius shortly a Commission of Enquiry to report on the administrative and financial condition of the Colonial Government, and the industries and resources of the Colony.
2. In view of the importance to Mauritius of the Indian market. for sugar, it will be desirable that the Commissioners should be furnished with full information I am accord- regarding Indian production and imports of sugar, molasses, and rum. ingly to ask that the statistics indicated in the enclosed Memorandum may be prepared by the Government of India and forwarded direct to the Secretary to the Mauritius Royal Commission, c/o the Colonial Secretary, Port Louis. The Commis- sion will probably reach Mauritius early in June.
