The Company will not use or permit the parcel of land hereby demised or any part thereof, or any buildings erected thereon to be used as a tavern or for the sale of intoxi- cating liquors, or for any other purpose what- soever other than that of landing, cleaning, storing and selling pearl oysters, or other purpose incidental to or connected with the carrying on the pearl fishery.

The Company shall in every year which it is proposed to have a public fishery give not less than 45 days' notice in writing to the Colonial Secretary of the date when the fishery will commence, and shall state the limits within which it is proposed to fish as aforesaid. This term however may be varied at the discretion of the Governor on applica- tion by the Company.

5. The Lessor shall make such provision as may appear to him to be necessary for the maintenance of good order and sanitation at

the fishery, and the Company shail pay into the Colonial Treasury such amount as the Colonial Secretary shall from time to time certify has been expended for the said pur- poses within forty-five days from the date when the amount so certified has been com- municated to the Company. The amount payable by the Company as aforesaid shall include the actual cost of stationing and main- taining at the fishery a Police Magistrate and an adequate force of police; of establishing, equipping, and maintaining a hospital and dispensary with a proper staff of doctors, dispensers, and attendants; of maintaining the vicinity of the fishery in a wholesome and sanitary condition; and of providing and maintaining a proper supply of pure water.

6. The Company shall purchase_from_the Lessor the apparatus constructed by Mr. Dixon for extracting pearls from pearl oysters, together with all the machinery and plant connected with the same at the price of

Rs. 120,000 which shall be paid within 45 days from the execution of these presents.

7. The Company shall purchase from the Lessor the Steamship * Violet " at the price of Rupees 62,501 36, which shall be paid within 45 days from the execution of these presents.

8. The Lessor shall be at liberty during the continuance of this concession to take from time to time free of charge by dredging or otherwise from any place within the area to which this concession applies (which area is hereinafter referred to as the conceded area") such number of immature oysters as the Lessor may require for experimental purposes.

9. It shall be lawful for the 'Lessor when- ever, and as often as he thinks fit, during the continuance of this concession, to cause the pearl banks within the conceded area to be inspected by a skilled person for the purpose of investigating and reporting on the con- dition of the same, and the person so employed shall be at liberty to take by means of divers, dredging or otherwise, such pearl oysters as may be necessary for the purpose of such inspection. All pearls so found shall be handed over to the Company:

It shall be lawful for the Lessor, when- ́ever in his judgment the holding of a fishery or the continuance of a fishery already begun will, owing to the imminence of plague, oholera, or other epidemic disease, involve serious danger to the public health, to pro- hibit the holding of a fishery, or to order that any fishery which has already been com- menced shall be forthwith discontinued.

11. The Company shall in each year expend such sum not less than Rs. 50,000 nor more than Rs. 150,000, as the Government may reasonably require on the experimental or practical culture of the pearl oyster and on the improvement of the pearl banks within the conceded area and the maintenance there. on of a proper breeding stock, or otherwise in the improvement and development of the fishery, and shall on or before the.

Any sum which the syndicate may have reasonably expended in obtaining scientific advice and assistance shall be taken to have been expended as aforesaid on the improve- ment and development of the fishery.
