REPORT of the ACTING AUDITOR GENERAL.

THE HON. THE COLONIAL Secretary,

I HAVE no means of checking the Census Returns of 1881, but presume that the figures quoted in your Blue Book Summary for 1888 have been arrived at on the following basis.

MINUTE of His Excellency the GOVERNOR.

The audited returns state that the total sum for ecclesiastical purposes is now divided between Roman Catholics and Protestants as follows:-

To the Roman Catholics, per member

To the Protestants, per member

Rs. C. 0 75 5 90

If the rate per member were equalized, what would be the total sum payable to each church ?
