within all parts of Our Dorninions in which gold coins issued from Our Mint in London were at the date of the issue of auch Proclamation a legal tender.
Now We, by the advice of Our Privy Council, have thought fit to declare and ordain, and by the advice aforesaid We do hereby declare and ordain, that from and after a day to be fixed by the Governor or Officer administering the Government of the Colony of the Mauritius and its Dependencies by Proclamation the said hereinbefore-mentioned Orders in Council and Proclamations of the 1st day of February, 1843, and of the 19th day of July, 1870, respectively, and so much of the said hereinbefore-mentioned Orders in Council and Proclamations of the 16th day of October, 1852, 22nd day of October, 1856, and 7th day of August, 1869, as have effect and are in force in the Colony of the Mauritius and its Dependencies, shall be revoked and annulled.
5. And We do bereby further ordain and declare that from and after the same date, and subject to further directions to be given by the Governor touching the liquidation of or otherwise relating to contracts and engagements in force at that date, the silver rupee of India of 180 grains weight and eleven-twelfths fineness, as now legally current in India, shall be the only legal standard of value (except as hereinbefore directed) within Our Colony of the Mauritius and its Dependencies.
6. And we do hereby further ordain and declare that from and after the same date (and subject as aforesaid) the under-mentioned coins and tokens shall be legal tenders to the respective amounts, and shall be current at the rates following, that is to say-

Legal tender to any extent, provided the coin shail not have lost more than 2 per cent. in weight, nor have been clipped, filed, or otherwise defaced.

And We do hereby further ordain and declare that whenever the denomination of British currency shall have been specified in any Regulation, Ordinance, Proclamation, Minute, notification, or contract in force at the date as aforesaid of the bringing into opera- tion of this Proclamation, whether as payments to be made to or by the Government of the Mauritius, or by any other persons, such sums shall continue as heretofore to be received and paid at the rate of 10 rupees to the pound of British currency.
Provided always that the contribution payable by the Government of Our said Colony to Our Exchequer in respect of the charge of maintaining Our forces in Our said Colony shall be paid at the same rate of rupees to the pound sterling as that at which the pay of Our maid forces may for the time being be issued to them from Our Exchequer.
And whenever in any contract, agreement, or undertaking, entered into between any two or more persons prior to such date, the consideration money shall have been expressed in dollars, the liability in respect of each such dollar shall henceforth be legally discharged by the payment of two rupees or four English shillings.
