Plans for providing materials for blacking out buildings and vehicles are proceeding concurrently.
Disposal of the Dead
17.
Plans could be put into operation at once, using 2 crematoria, 4 cemeteries, 8 mortuaries and 16 dead vans. Dispersal of Civil Defence Services
18.
The necessary building have been selected.
Welfare Services
19.
A scheme has been prepared to feed, give first aid and record details of bombed out persons through Rest Centres strategically situated over the Colony. Thereafter they will be evacuated to Lantao. Plans for landing facilities, including a pier, have been approved.
Storage of reserves.
20.
Arrangements are being made for the dispersal over the Colony of 1 month's supply of essential foodstuffs. Storage space to the extent of 606,000 cubic feet has already been earmarked and the rest is being found.
Bomb Disposal
21.
A small military squad is available to assist the civil authorities if not required for bomb disposal work in military installations.
Tunnels
22.
Tunnels will be used primarily for Command Posts and additional First Aid Centres.
Communications
23.
The possibility of setting up Message Centres linked by R/T to supplement the existing telephone system and Police, Marine and Fire Brigade R/T nets, is under urgent examination.
