(Dear Rayner),
Many thanks for your letter of the
17th November regarding the f'' notions of the R.1.0. representative in Hong Yong.
I agree that this provides an accurate sumer of the conclusions reached as a result of our 1iscussions during your recent visit to Hong Kong. The basis upon which Leslie Smith will work in future is satisfactory from the point of view of the Hong Kong Goverment, and I have at present no criticism or additions to make. It may be that some further points may emerge as a result of practical experience of his working on these lines, and in that event I will of course comunicate with you again.
Meanwhile I should like to take this opportunity of saying how very useful I feel your visit here to have been, and how much I appreciate your cooperation and readiness to understand our point of view in these matters.
I am sending copies of this letter to those to -han your letter nåer reference was copied, and have inform-
selie Smith of our agreement with its terms.
J. Rayner, "8Q • •
Yours ever,
(sgd.) Geoffrey Aldington.
