Will you please rafar to your letter ₺ Barton of the 2nd November, 1949, cocut the entry of Indians and Pakistanis into Hong Kong.

As you know wa put to the Governor of Hong Kong in our savingram no 192 of the 24th November, 1949, the suggestion that the High Commissioners should enter into formal agreements with the GovCITments of India and Pakistan in which they would bind tamwives to screen Communists effectively.

The Governor, in nis telegram No. 1338 of which I

attach a copy, has now agreed to this suggestion and we should be grateful therefore if you would ask the High Commissioners to take the matter up with the two goverments.
