One last word. Radio Malaya and the B.B.C. have become involved in considerable difficulty because two Malay assistants from the former were taken on by the latter three years ago without a perfectly clear understanding by all parties concerned of the status of the two assistants and their prospects after the end of their time with the B.B.C. I would suggest that you should be careful to avoid this trap and that one way of ensuring that the lessons from the Malayan contretemps are applied in this case would be to conduct the negotiations through the ordinary Colonial Office channels. I would do my best to see that they were not delayed thereby.
