C.I.(48) 6th Meeting, Minute 6, Conclusion (2))

The Committee had before them a note by the Joint Secretaries (0.I.(49) 52) covering a summary of Soviet activities in Hong Kong during the second-half of 1948.

It was noted that the whole question of the situation of Hong Kong, in the light of recent developments in China, and with special reference to the internal security situation, was shortly to be discussed by the Cabinet.

The Committee:-

Invited the Colonial Office, in the

light of any policy decision which might be roached by the Cabinet, to submit to them a report on the desirability and possibility of a special information campaign in Hong Kong.

been despatched.

THE PARLIAMENTARY UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS said that this was a matter which must be pressed forward; there had recently been a question in Parliament, and the Prime Minister was personally interested.

The Committee:-

*., (2)
