2nd June, 1949.
I enclose a spare copy of the draft telegram to the Minister of Defence which my Secretary of State has submitted for the Prime Minister's approval under cover of his minute No. P.M.(49) 32. this evening
If the telegram is to reach Mr. Alexander in Singapore as is proposed, it should go eff not later than tomorrow; and we have arranged that Captain ävershed of the Ministry of Defence will be responsible for its despatch. There have been a few minor amendments in the text since Captain Evershed last saw it, and I am also sending him a copy of this letter and of the telegram as submitted to the Prime Minister. I should be grateful if you could let him know when the telegram is approved, with any amendments which the Prime Minister may make so that he can get the telegram ofr. I should be glad if you could let us know at the same time that this has been done.
