The times for the issue of Internal Security Codewords implementing various stages must be co-ordinated beteen the three Services, otherwise trouble occurs over, such matters as movement of families, carriage of arms, etc. Furthermore, in order to give everyone a chance to issue the necessary orders, a time lag must be allowed from the time of originating the order. E.G. the un sage or telephone call originated say at 1200 hrs should read "ANNOYANCE 1330 hrs".

Naval Fire Support

There is no doubt that the Exercises insti ated by CO 25 Field Regiment have been of great value in practicing and co-ordinating Naval gunfire support for troops operating in defence of the COLONY. The Army are, however, largely ignorant of the capabilities and workings of such support and HQLF should arrange a lecture on this subject.

Such support requires prc-planning if it is not to be late in arriving.

Coast Watching.

A co-ordinated Naval/Army/RAF/Pelico plan for coast watching and patrolling is badly needed. Until this is rrúngo any Army Commander in the field will, justifiably, he vorried about his flank protection and it will be casy for small parties to land for sabotage etc., purroses.

MFV Trins to TAI PO.

(a) Six hours by day and soven by night is a conservative

estimate for the sea trip.

(b) Six three-ton lorry loads of ammunition, or similar compact stores can comfortably be embarked in cách 61 ft. MFV. Probably more.

(c) 14 hours should be allowed for loading, and the same for unloading this amount of stores into and from the MFV.

(d) Casualties of any severity particularly stomach wounds and

broken limbs should not be evacuated by MTV in anything but a flat calm. A Medical Officer hould be embarked if any casualties are conveyed in this manner.

(c) Any provisions, etc., sout by MFV must be packed in bulk. (f) There is no protection against the weather for any troops

embarked in a loaded MFV.

Transport of Motor Transport:

Regard must be paid to the times of high and low water when planning movements involving use of the ramp t

ellington Camber.
