My

Canton incident.

In the course of the interview with the Chinese Minister, he was told that there are two warliamentary uestions down for next week about Canton. We were not sure what the present position was in regard to Canton, though we were aware that the Chinese Government had expressed regret and that there had been a flag-hoisting ceremony at the new premises allotted to the Consul-General. We understoon, however, that the Chinese Governæent had also instituted an investigation and we should be grateful to learn how far this had now progressed. Ends.
