I saw the Minister for Foreign Affairs today and urged him to accept your original proposal regarding care and maintenance of projected Garden of Remembrance. I reminded him that he had raised two points in connexion with your proposal. His Majesty's Government had yielded on one of them and the Chinese Government should reciprocate by not pressing the other.
2. After considerable argument it was decided that he would think the matter over and that we should meet again on 18th February.
