24161 When your brokers sell shares for you, do they always

pay you by cheque, or how do they pay you ?

A.

Cheques usually. I think Michael sometimes paid in

notes. I wont be positive about that.

Because ever and above all these cheques, which on

the face of them appear to be share transactions, in

your pass book, there are many items of cash and notes,

and it is very unusual for a broker to pay in notes.

In my caso, I have never known of it. Can you explain

what these cash payments were ?

No, I cant. I had a little business with Wilks, and

occasionally he has paid me in notes, proceeds of

shares, of course, but that is some time ago, and I

have had no connection with him since I have been back.

It is rather an important point.

24163

It is very difficult for me to remember actually how

or where I got these notes.

We should like some definite information on this 24164

point. If you could look up some figures, we wont

press you for a day or two.

I could certainly give it to you. I have a rough

little note book, but it would not say whether it was

cash or notes,
