What did you mean by "everything pointed to that" ?
I I took him down to Tai Hang village. Of course, speak a little Chinese, and I told him several things to say to the people, and he did not interprete
correctly. He appeared afraid, and I said "have you been down to this village without me". He said he had not, and I said "Have you made any money" and he was
very frightened indeed.
Did you report him that afternoon ?
23605
I went immediately to the office and reported him for
absence from duty.
23.606
You say you reported him. Did you report him before
he ran away ?
No, Sir. I went down that morning, and the inspector, Inspector Brett, told me that the interpreter had to
see Dr Clark that morning. I did not report him until
he had seen Dr Clark, and he was not there.
You only reported him after ?
