"

"to the M. 0. H. who forwarded it to the C. S. Police.

During the last Chinese New Year the Indian Street

"cleansing foreman of my district informed me that Kr

Lee had, the Chinese New Year before, asked him to get

"$4 from some stall holders and a dozen towels from

"another stall.

Some time after my report was forwarded to the C.

"P. Police, the interpreter of 8 District was informed

"by the Senior Inspector to "be very careful what you

"do now" this my own interpreter was told by No 5

"District Interpreter. I could not find out why the

"Senior Inspector should say such a thing to this man

"after my report was forwarded.

" Since I joined the department I have taken a very

"keen interest in the work of No 6 Health District and

"I have this week been informed by the P. C. X. 0.

"that I was to transfer to No 7 District, the reason

"for my transfor being that I could not agree with the

"Senior Inspector.

I consider my transfer from No 6 to No 7 District

"solely due to the conscientious way I have done my

"work, the senior Inspector not liking my various

"reports against the scavenging Contractors and others.

" The Senior Inspector had me in front of the P. C.

"X. 0. on the 20th inat, over a hill for 30 dollars

"from the contractors foreman in No 6 Distriot for

"coolie hire during the Chinese New Year and I consider

"the correspondence relating to such would be of inter-

"est to the President of the Commission,

I have the honour to be, Sir,

Your obedient servant,

sgd. Daniel J. O'Halloran. Inspector 2nd

*A. Chapman Zaq., Secretary to Commission.
