We find, Dr Pearse, that there has been a considerable
amount of leakage of information, that is to say, thet
contractors have heard that certain places were
ordered to be concreted or limewashed, or something of
that sort, and almost immediately with the notice being
served, men have turned up and offered to do the work
in some dages before the notice has been served. To

save time, I can tell you we have already been informed
that some of the information leaked out through one of
the office boys, who has since run away. He knew by the
look of the papera, and apparently he could read
sufficiently to take the addresses, and then he would
communicate with the contractors.

I cannot give you any specific case, but I can tell you
generally. I was informed by one or two Inspectors
remember speaking to Inspector H, Gidley about it,
he told me it was quite a common thing for contractors:
runners to go into houses, immediately the Inspector came up. ak? (Page 1770.)
