Witnèse hands statement to the Chairman, and sayı:-

On 16th instant, a little after 2 p.m. Mr Bryan said

well, you ask me questions, which I should answer

Kr Bryan said someone told him that Mr Carter said he

(Mr Bryan) had received bribes, and asked me to say

whether I had heard Mr Carter say so. I told Mr Bryan

that I did not remember Mr Carter saying anything ahout

him receiving bribes. Mr Bryan then said, it seems as though I am siding with Mr Carter, and since he (Mr Bryan has been back to the Colong, he has noticed something

strange about me, and that I should be very careful,

for if I am going back on him, he is going to sit on me.

He also said that while he was absent from the Colony,

Mr carter was raking up a lot of things about him, and trying to get his job. Fearing that Mr Bryan would bring

some false reports against me, I reported the matter to

Dr Clark, and Mr Woodcook. That is all,
