01- Now, Mr Woodcock, before I go on to some questions I am to 1532
put to you, there are one or two small points in connection
with your evidence at last meeting which I would like to
clear up. Do you think from your experience as Secretary of
the Board that there have been any considerable number of
appeals to the Board on account of harsh treatment -
enforcement of various provisions of the Act ?

with harsh treatment but as to how many I really could not
say.
I suppose you know that it was apparently partly in consequ-1533
-ence of these complaints with regard to harsh treatment
that the Government was actuated in appointing this Commis-

A: Yes, I think that is so.

And you think there have been a number of complaints ?
I should not like to say how mary. I have recollection of
some coming in but how many I carnot say.
Kikai- Are these invariably referred to the Sanitary Board ?
