Hong Kong Activities of Kuomintang

I enclose a copy of a despatch from Hong Kong giving the Governor's views on the policy to be adopted towards the Kuomintang in that Colony. You will have no doubt seen the copies of our previous correspondence with the Governor on the subject, ending with the Secretary of State's despatch No.3 of the 28th of January, of which a copy went to Scott. I believe that the Foreign Office reference 18 F.376/376/10.

We are disposed to agree with the Governor's views, as set out in paragraphs ↳ and 5 of the despatch as to the attitude to be adopted by the Hong Kong Government towards the Kuomintang in present circumstances. Mr. Creech Jones is very much concerned at the activities and aims of the Hong Kong Kuomintang and the degree of its control over the Chinese population in the Colony, as reported in the enclosures to the Governor's Confidential despatch of 24th of November, a copy of which was sent to Scott on the 10th of January, and he is anxious that effective action should be taken with the least possible delay to reduce, and, if possible, to terminate the Kuomintang influence in Hong Kong. would very much like to see some immediate action taken, and we should be grateful for Foreign Office

G.V. KITSON, ESC., C.B.E.
