" local Government, which will not only deliver the suffering

" By judging from the past intimate relationship between
England and China, and from Dr. Soong's accomplishments in

Thereafter, the campaign against Your Petitioner was
carried on by various parties of Cantonese newspapermen and
self-styled Chinese Government Officials making threats to take
over Your Petitioner's paper, culminating in the banning from
publication by the Information Department in Canton on the 8th
February 1946 of Your Petitioner's newspaper and its affiliated
newspaper, the Tsun Wan Yat Po. No Official pronouncement was
made but copies of these papers were on arrival in Canton seized
by agents of the Canton Political Department. The following
excerpt from the Kung Sheung Yat Po of the 10th February is
significant :-
" There are a few newspapers in Hong Kong who, during the
occupation, went over to the side of the enemy and did
"
11 propaganda work for him. They continued publication after
" the liberation and copies of these papers are imported into
" the interior of China.
For the sake of justice and of giving the traitors their due,
" the Kwangtung authorities have banned the entry of these
papers as from 8th February 1946. The 'Wah Kiu Yat Po' and
" 'Tsun Wan Yat Po' were, however, on sale in the afternoon of
" that date; and the authorities have despatched officials to
" their whole-sale depots to seize all these papers and arrest
" a news-vendor in this connection.
