2. Labour situation generally appears lees tense.

3. Times report of 31st January referring to surfeit of food and commodities in Hong Kong has been read (?only) with bitter amusement.

40 Rice ration cut to eight ounces last week in face of dwindling supplies and prospects.

5. Prices of essential commodities again beginning to show very slight downward trend but shortage of oile and fats, kerosene, firewood and meat keeps basic living costs high.
