Now, we want to understand something more about the 19119 working of the Disinfecting Establishment, and I will
be very glad if you will tell us what your duties are
in connection with that particular branch of your work.
Will you explain please?
I am in charge of the clothing. The clothing comes to the station from the plague gangs. It is disinfected, and I inspect it, to see that there is no silk or anything spoiled. I see it put in the Disinfector, and
Bee to the washing of it.
That is for clothing from a house where plague has 19120
occurrred ?
Practically any contagious disease, it goes through the same process, and it is subjected to a heat of some 270 degrees, and then after that, it is dried by say
250 degrees of dry steam. The clothing is then taken
out and I inspect it to see that it is quite dry, and
in good condition. I then send it back to the people it belongs to and they aign a receipt es having received
the same.

And do you sign a receipt as having received it in the
first instance ?
There is a certain hook with three écunterfoils. One is given to the tenant, and what clothing is counted in his presence, so many pieces is put down, and he signs as so many pieces taken away. The other one is brought in by the plague foremen and given to the Chinese engineer, who gives it to me, and I count to ace if they tally. The other one is left in the book, and when the clothing is taken back, the tenant counts and sees that the clothing compares with the counterfoil
he got.
and he signs & receipt to say that he has got
