Mr Lau Chu Paki-

If I mention it to you, do you think you could call to

mind the name of the man ?

A.

Yes, I think so.

Lum Sum Ting, is that it ?

18724

A.

That is the name,- So Dr Pearse said to me "You had

better put your tape over this grave, as it appears to

be amassiva". I said "I dont require to do it. I know

it already". He said "Then were you here last ?" I onid

"I have not been in the section three times, I think,

since I took over the cemetery".

And was that the reason why you told Mr Bryan of this ?

I only discovered it then.

Mr Shelton Hooper:-

And why did you tell Kr Bryan ?

18.727

I beg your pardon, I reported it to the M. O. R. It was

not to Mr Bryan, I told it. Will you send for my

memorandum book, sir ?

18728

I will just read you a memorandum from Mr Bryan to the

P. C. X. O. on the th September. "Since writing the

above, I am informed by Inspector Conolly that a body

was interred in the old portion of the cemetery in June

of last year. The grave space measured 60 feet in

excess of the regulation size. The owner is willing

either to reduce the size of the grave, or to pay the

extra cost". &c. He says you told him. Now, I am not

grumbling at all at that. Do you consider Mr Bryan was

the proper person you should report that to ?

Most assuredly not.

And you have no recollection of that - of doing that 9187293

I never did, Sir. And in fairness to me, I think you
