I only mention this because it seems such a waste of
time and money to be continually putting in new
gratings, and having them immediately afterwards smashed. I dont say that my suggestion gets over the difficulty, because you are spending money, and
irritating people and you get no good out of it.
Where is it that you find it compulsory to put in a
grating?
I dont know. The Inspector makes ya put them in.

This happened to me once, and I was prosecuted. It has
also happened since. I was told to do certain work to
the best of my ability, and I did it. It was a question
of limewashing some premises. I limewashed them and I
got another notice sometime after to say nothing had
been done, and then a second time I got another notice
again to say nothing had been done. I did it the
third time, and I got another notice to say that nothing had been done. I refused to do it again, and I
was prosecuted at the Magistracy, and the explanation £.
of that was that a portion of the ceiling, - it was
not all the ceiling, but one of those trellis work ceil-|
ings, - had not been done satisfactorily, or to the
satisfaction of Inspector Lyon, and the Sanitary Board.
