entered in it. I have several thousand dollars a day to

enter in it.

Of course, if you find the two entries, the one you/l/ro

paid to the Inspector, and the one you paid to the

Architect, we need not keep that book,

Well, it has to be in the book if I can find it.

Can you read those entries yourself ?

The Chairman:-

I want you to tell this man we are very dissatisfied 17/42

with the way in which he has given his evidence. We

dont feel at all sure that he has told us the truth,

or certainly he has only told us part of the truth.

I dont remember exactly about these things.

His memory seems to be very defective. Perhaps, if he

goes away for a few days, and thinks of those things,

he may remember, now that he knows what we want to talk

to him about. There is no occasion to be uneasy if he

tells the truth, I will give him a løfter which will

protect him from any trouble, but if he does not tell

the truth, he has every cause to be uneasy, for the

consequences will be very unpleasant for him.

Well, I will go back and think it over.

I think you had better.
