It seemed then to be the only way of getting at the

infected houses. There were so many bodies dead of

plague thrown into the street, and found outside

houses, and there seemed to be no possibility of getting hold of the infected houses and disinfecting

them.

The general disinfecting was in 1903 or 1904. Simpson 1977

and Chadwick were hers in 1902.
