An Sui Shang &
Mr Lau Chu Paki-
The Kwong Man Hing's books are kept very carefully. They keep a proper set of books, and why should not
this man also keep a proper set of books?
The Chairman:-

Explain to this man, that the Commission are very
dissatisfied with the way he has given his evidence.
They are satisfied in their own minds that he has not
told us the truth. We have seen the Kwong Kan Hing books
and they kept a proper set of books. Now, the Man Hing have shown us four books, and we know perfectly well that carrying on the business he does, he could not possibly have done so, without proper books, and I want
to know where his books are :-

As a matter of fact, the business of the Man Hing is nearly three times as much as the Kwong Kan Hing.
We are satisfied that he has not told the truth. He
bould not possibly have carried on the business he h
d one with the Government, and with private individua.
with those four books.
The Government is only a few hundred dollars, or a
thousand a month,
No, but it is a very mixed and various one. You have
buy a good many articles from a good many shops.
I have them down in the goods received book.

What is the amount of the business of the Kwong Man 5667
Hing ?
Between one and two thousands.
Well, is not that nearly the same as the Government 5668
contract ↑
It is an ordinary business.
For how long have you been doing Government work
Since 1901.
