No intimation has been received of action

taken on the above recommendations and the Return of

Naval and Military Resources recently received from

the Colony does not show the numbers given above as

the establishments of the Volunteer Corps though it

is observed with satisfaction that the battery of

artillery has been strengthened by the formation of a

Kowloon Dock Detachment.

It is suggested for your consideration

that the numbers and organization proposed by the

Colonial Defence Committee should now be adopted as

the establishments of the Hong Kong corps and that

every endeavour should be made to keep the strength

of the Volunteers up to their establishment and to

have every volunteer on the strength fully efficient.

I have to request that you will consult

with the General Officor Commanding and the Volun-

teer Commandant with regard to the means for effect-

ing this and report further on the subject at your

earliest oonvenience.
