Mode of opposing.

Kowloou East is commanded by the Cameron Ranges; the position is too much extended for the troops available. If a landing is affected, and the hills occupied behind Kowloon Dock, the fort is commanded by them.

1. Bombardment.

2. From land side.

3. By landing on the position.

1. The guns of Kowloon Dock Battery and Kowloon East (when completed), assisted

by North Point.

2. The redoubt at Kowloon East, or temporary works in line of Kowloon East, if not finished, to be occupied by the greater part of the infantry, and small parties sent out at night to occupy the low hills to the east and west of this.

3. Not likely to be attempted unless Lyemun has fallen, and in that case this position would probably be reinforced, and a landing could probably be repulsed. With troops allotted, they would probably be down at Kowloon Dock and Kowloon East and have to

hold them.

• To be removed.
