COMAND OF THE SERVICES IN HONG KONG AFTER THE RESULTION

OF CIVIL ADMINISTRATION

Note by the Secretary

At their meeting on 17th April the Chiofs of Staff approved a report by the Joint Flanning: Staff examining the arrangemonta to be made for the commond of the three Services in Hong Kong after the return of civil government and instructed the Secretary to send a copy of the report to the Colonial Office for their concurrence.

The Colonial Office has intimated concurrence to the arrangementa contained in the report by the Joint Planning Staff and have requested that they be informed immediately of any instructions that are issued to the Service Chiefs so that the Governor of Hong Kong can be informed of the arrangements.

In anticipation of instructions of the Chiefs of Staff the Admiralty, War Office and Air Ministry are invitod to prepare and issue the necessary instructions to their respective Service Commanders in Hong Kong sending a copy of any such instructions issued to the Colonial Office.
