Special Commissioner, South East Asia, keep in touch, through
the appropriate United Kingdom reprosentative in each case, with the principal administrative authorities in the foreign
territories concerned.
4.
Similarly co-operation in all matters of common interest
should be encouraged between British and foreign territories
in South East Asia and neighbouring areas. In these widor
matters the Governor-General should maintain close contact
with the Special Commissionur, South East Asia, who is primarily responsible for advising His Majesty's Government
on these aspects of co-operation.

The Governor-General will also muintuin close contact with
any representatives who may be established in the areu of his
sphere of authority by the Governments of any of the
Dominions, India or Burma.. Hu will keep in touch with the
Governor-Gonor.l of India, the Governor of Burma and the
United Kingdom High Commissionurs in Australia and New Zutland, through whom contacts with the Governments of those
countries may also be mide us occ:.sion rises.
6. Wherever the Governor-General muy r. side his duties will require him to pay official visita as he thinks fit to all the
territories within his sphoru of cuthority and to other
countries us may be necess..ry. The Governor-Guneral will
retain his position and functions whenever he is on duty,
whether in the Far East or elsewhere. When he is absent
from his sphere of authority and not on duty the Governor of the Mulyan Union (or in his absence the Governor of Singapore) will act as Governor-General but would continue his functions as Governor of the Malayan Union (or of Sing: pore), unless special instructions are given to the
contrary.
7. In status the Governor-General will rank as the principal
representative of the King within the crea of his sphere of
