I am informed that the Admiralty le contemplating sale of six landing oraft (L.C.T.) and return of 6 Lease-Land landing craft (LO I(L)) at the present allocated for battalion lift in Hong Kong defence scheme and that an offer for 6 L.C.T.'s has been received, according

to which delivery would be required by early November.

2. Request British Naval Forces press most strongly for retention of these vessels since it is essential to requirements of Hong Kong defence scheme that this lift should be provided, and moreover most necessary when existing craft becomes unserviceable, they should be replaced.
