SECTION VII

TOP SECRET.

MILITARY ACCOMODATION.

1.

The total force to be accomodated (including non-divisional und administrative units) after relief of present garrison is:

IT 5,000

The tactival disposition of an infantry division less one brigaüc in liong Kong and the low Territories will necessitate considerable modification of existing barracks and extensive construction of new permanent accomodation in the New Territories.

During the initial stages approximately 50% of the Force will be accommodated in requisitioned ildings because:

Consurable damage has been done to barracks and repairs must be undertaken befor: troops can be moved in.

Japanese prisoners-of-ar and internces are occupying two of the main barracks (Stanley and Sham Shui Po).

A large mumber of administrative units will be engaged on rehabilitation of the Colony but will be withdrawn when twir tas: is completed.

Units are split into detrohments for purposes of internal security anl guarding unoccupied civilian property.
