EXAMINATION OF C.-in-C. HONG KONG'S
RECOMMENDATIONS
We examine below C.-in-C. Hong Kong's detailed recommendations for the forces required for the defence of Hong Kong in order to determin the extent to which these are required to fulfil the limited functions of:-
(a) Providing an armed backing to assist the Police
in maintaining internal security;
(b) Countoring a potential threat of external attack
on a minor scale, and controlling the frontier;
(c) Upholding British prestigo, and acting as a
deterrent to Chineso aspirations.
In this paper we have confined ourselves to examining
