My dear howan,

7th March, 1946.

This is just a line to say, with reference to tomorrow's meeting of the Defence Committee, that Mr. Creach Jones, who will not be able to attend for Itoms 3 as he was invited to do has no comments on the Report by the Chiefs of Staff on the Future Defence olicy for Hong Kong (D.0.(46) 30), the goneral line of which has already been agreed interdepartmentally. Mr. Creech Jones,as you know, has to be in the House for the Second Reading of the trails Settlements Bill.

I am sending a copy of this note to Hollis for record.

Jours ever,

(Sgd.) E. Melville

T.. Rowan, Esq., CB,

Private Secretary.
