Agree two Brigades should be retained at present
but garrison will be reduced to one Brigade when European Folice Force is fully established.
Understand this is likely to be about 1 Jan 47. Must point out in this connection that retention of any Indian Forces outside INDIA after Mar 46
has NOT yet been agreed by Indian Government.
Matter now under discussion on Government level.
Regret we cannot agree to despatch Field Rogiment 'which could only be provided at expense of another
theatre. Do NOT consider requirement in HONG-KONG
sufficiently great.
